What is the Core Digital Network?

The objective of “Core Digital Network” implemented by Tyrone Donegal Partnership and partnered with Intercomm Belfast is to make innovative, useable video conferencing technology accessible to the entire local community arena in Omagh and Donegal. This includes local businesses that can avail of the technology service for their own enterprising needs.

Conferencing ….Building Partnerships ….in Realtime

The Core Digital Network consists of 6 video conference centres that can deliver education, training or facilitate face-to-face meetings that will support, enhance and create a flexible learning experience.  The 3 year project is supported by the International Fund for Ireland and is entirely cross-border and cross-community with participants being drawn from Counties Tyrone and Donegal.

The 5 Learning Centres operating in Donegal are connected via state of the art video conferencing equipment to Omagh Community House (main hub) and can link into the World Bank Global Development Learning Network. This project will provide local access (at each learning centre) to a range of courses (accredited and non-accredited), including conflict management, citizenship, personal development, conflict resolution, peace and reconciliation and community development. Other training can be supplied upon request.

This project will further help to overcome three common barriers to education and development in rural border areas – the border itself, travel distance and lack of critical mass to run and support programmes in rural areas.
